College student in a ID theft scandal

Jacelyn Kirsch and her boyfriend, Edward Anderson Stole the identities of more than 50 people amounting to about $100,000 in damages, stolen from friends and neighbors. They were sentenced to 5 years in prison for their 6 felonies which included money laundering, mail fraud and aggravated Identity theft.

The two would break into neighbors apartments and steal their mail key. They would use the key to steal mail that would help them steal their neighbor’s identity. They spent the money that they stole on lavish vacations, expensive salons as well as fancy dinners. They even baught a machine that they could use to make fake IDs for their stolen identities. Other than identity theft, the two also engaged in fraudulently selling laptops and iPods on e-bay that were nonexistent.

Their whole scheme started to reveal itself when one of Jacelyn’s checks bounced at a salon for her $2,250 hair extension job at a very nice and expensive salon. When the police looked into the matter they came to find that the bounced check was just the tip of the identity theft iceberg.

Jacelyn blames her actions on the her dysfunctional childhood claiming that she was ignored a lot of the time. When she was 14 she stole her father’s car as well as getting expelled from two different schools. After she started college she also picked up a couple shop lifting charges. Her parents are both very successful business people and Jacelyn would of had everything that America had to offer. Jacelyn’s boyfriend had a pretty clean record so his sentence my be a little bit shorter. According to federal guidelines the minimum sentence should of been 70 months but the judge took into account the remorse of Jacelyn and only sentenced her to 60 months.
