Criminal kills a cop after stealing man’s identity!
September 15, 2008 – 10:55 amJohn T Healy lived in Yardley Pa. and in early January of 2007 had to deal with his identity being stolen. Not only did the thief steal his identity but also thirty five hundred dollars that the thief used to buy a used car. The criminal then bought car insurance and then proceeded to bail a friend out of jail. The man and his accomplice then robbed a jewelry store. During their getaway the accomplice gunned down Joseph Corr, a New Hartford Police officer. Turns out that back in 2005 the real John Healy had his identity stolen after a paycheck and a benefits package went missing. He continued to have problems after filing his report.
John went to Canada and when he reentered the country the customs agents gave him lengthy interrogation. When the Healy went to the Caribbean, he had to endure interrogations from the ships employees when trying to exit the boat. John didn’t even know about the murder trial until about 2 weeks after it had started, when he began to get phone calls from his friends poking fun at him for being on trial for murder. Healy said that the worst part of having his identity stolen wasn’t the money. He said that the money was replaceable. The hassles, day in and day out, that he had to go through to get his name cleared was the biggest deal to him.
The funny thing was that the police didn’t even know who the criminal was that had stolen John’s identity. The man had about 20 different identities and the name that the FBI had on file wasn’t the man’s real name either. The courts in order to make sure there was no doubt that the man on trial was the man that was involved with the robbery decided to try the criminal as John Healy. If the man’s name wasn’t confirmed before the sentencing in march of 2007 then the man would be sentenced as John Healy.
