LifeLock Anyone?

James Plummer discovered that that a house that he had owned for several years had somehow been put into someone else’s name. Not only did he lose his house but the fraudulent owner had taken out several mortgages against it.

Ronda Coons, also known as Rhonda Lige, was the tenant that James was leasing the house to. Somehow Rhonda got a hold of James’s social security number and date of birth and created a false death certificate in James’s name. She then forged a will naming her the executor of the estate. Using the deed she forged the signature of a lawyer and took the deed to the state to make it official.

The crazy thing is that it worked. She was able to get the title to the house and now she was free to take out mortgages on the home, which she of course wasn’t planning on paying down on. The clever thing about this plot is that in the eyes of the state she wasn’t doing anything wrong the mortgages were in her name on a property that she owned.

James Plummer discovered what had happened when he received his property tax summery in the mail addressed to Rhonda Lige. His discovery came a little too late because Ronda Coons had already taken $60,000 in mortgages from the home. It took more than 5 years for James to get the house back in his name again.
