Man Arrested Several Times Because of Identity Theft

    Malcolm Byrd has been arrested several times because some stole his identity and is committing crimes in Byrd’s name. Byrd has been arrested not once, not twice, but three times because of the crimes of the identity theft.
       It all began in 1998, when a man was arrested for dealing drugs. The man said that his name was Malcolm Byrd and he had the identification to prove it. An article was written in a local paper about the arrest, when the real Malcolm saw the article he couldn’t believe it. Malcolm went to the police to make sure they knew that it wasn’t him and the paper ran a correction of the article. Most people would assume that this would fix the problem.

    About four months after the incident the real Byrd was pulled over for speeding. The officer then arrested him because according to his computer he was still wanted for drug dealing. So Byrd ended up in handcuffed and face down on the pavement. When they got to the police station everything was cleared up when the police compared Byrd to a photo of the man they were looking for. Byrd lost a half day wages because of the incident.
