Students Need to Watch Out for Identity Theft – LifeLock Review
February 20, 2009 – 3:32 pm
College students that are going away to college for the first time have a lot of new responsibilities. They now have to worry about getting all their books and scheduling their class as well as their living situations. For many students these newfound responsibilities can be overwhelming. College is also where many people get their first credit card and begin to build credit for themselves that they can benefit from throughout their adult life.
This is why students need to keep a watchful eye out for identity theft because it can strike anyone at anytime. Many students are not as careful with their credit as they should be. With all the time spent studding and going to classes they find themselves not thinking about their credit report and what’s on it.
For students that don’t have the money to attend college many times put all their expenses on student loans. Having good credit when you get out off college is paramount to finding a way to repay those student loans in a timely manor. An untimely identity theft could lead to months of credit troubles something that no college student needs.
This is why every college student should protect his or her credit with LifeLock. LifeLock will help protect your credit to prevent someone from using it and leaving you to pickup the pieces. Students can get a discount on a LifeLock membership by using the LifeLock promotion code Defense. Students will receive $21 off the annual membership as well as 30 days free*. This is a great discount and it will help protect you as you make that transition from a student to the working world.
*At the end of the end of the 30-day free period your card will be billed automatically ($9 monthly / $99 annually) unless you cancel within the 30-day period. You can cancel anytime without penalty by calling 1-800-543-5625. Offer is for new members only.

Have you seen the latest about University of Florida data breaches? Besides the big one last fall, they’ve had 2 more since! latest one was 97,000 people! I love telling all my gator friends how much UF sucks at protecting their info!

I think students need to be made aware of the threat of identity theft while trying to obtain a job. Many online job-searching sites have scammers waiting for unsuspecting people to steal information from.
