Proposed legislation now before Congress will seek to reduce identity theft by eliminating distribution of Social Security numbers on Medicare cards.
The legislation was introduced this week by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), who said the use of such cards leaves millions of elderly people susceptible to identity theft.
