Tummy Tuck Identity Theft – LifeLock

April 24, 2009 – 3:50 pm

If there was ever was a doubt that people are willing to steal someone’s identity for just about anything than this is story will put those doubts to rest. I can almost understand someone stealing an identity to save one’s house, or to save a business. At least that almost makes sense to me.

This identity theft story is about Patrice Thomas, 33, who stole someone’s identity so that she could get a tummy tuck. This has got to be the dumbest reason to commit a felony I have ever heard. A felony can ruin your life and stay with you forever. To risk all that so your stomach would look flatter is just ridiculous.

Thomas used a stranger’s information to apply for a credit card online. She then used the card to make the first $5000 payment for her Plastic Surgery. She later made another payment on another card that she had obtained fraudulently.

Police were turned onto the credit card fraud after they searched her house in an unrelated case. They became suspicious of Thomas and found that she had multiple IDs and credit cards that had different names.

Thomas was arrested April 9 and charged with credit card fraud, social security fraud and aggravated identity theft. If she is convicted she could face more than 4 years in prison.
